Happy Leap Day Book Lovers!

I hope everyone is enjoying this bonus day today! It has been bright and sunny here in California and I am loving the early summer feel. I know how spoiled I am right now with the great weather and I completely intend to appreciate every minute. 😀

A special “Happy Birthday” goes out to all those Leap Year babies born on February 29th. However many birthdays you have celebrated, remember you can always be young at heart.

I have been very sporadic with my reading lately, starting more than one book at a time and taking too long to finish what I’m reading. It’s definitely a reading slump! Now that I think of it…I am also going through a blogging slump…and a life slump! Thankfully, all slumps pass and I know I will be back to reading and blogging with enthusiasm any day now.

This past weekend I decided to go back and re-read an old favorite of mine, Written in Red by Anne Bishop. Bishop is one of my all time favorite authors and I love her ability to effortlessly create rich worlds and devastatingly real characters! (I will always be a little bit in love with Lucivar Yaslana, the winged warrior from The Black Jewels series) I flew through Written in Red on Saturday and Sunday and started Murder of Crows before I remembered that I needed to read Snow Crash before the end of the week for my book club. I’m only a couple of pages into Snow Crash, but I’m already finding it interesting. This will be the first book I have ever read by Neal Stephenson and I am intrigued to learn more about his writing.

Other than reading, my weekend was pretty low key. I practiced my bagpipes, walked the dogs, painted a little bit and binge watched Daredevil on Netflix. All in all, it was a pretty good weekend!

Today has been filled with medical appointments, paperwork for work, run/walking as part of my VERY extended Couch to 5k plan and taking the time to make sure to set myself up for a successful week. I didn’t watch the Oscars last night, but I have been reading the articles Glamour and Vogue keep sending me. I’ll admit it, I love to look at clothes I will never EVER be able to bring myself to buy. They’re all so pretty though!

How was your weekend? Was it low key or did you go out and have an adventure of some kind? I hope wherever you are, you have a bit of sunshine in your day!

My weekend? Hmmm… Filled with chores and more chores, as usual. And I’ve been in a massive slump too, I feel like it was a February thing?!? Idk. A lot of my friends haven’t been feeling Feb. Good thing March is tomorrow! ^.^

      1. OMG yes!! I haven’t re-read it but I really am considering it! So good! A friend brought up the series just last night and the feels set in and I got sooo nostalgic about it!
